DETECTING ANXIETY IN YOUR STUDENTS
Helping with test anxiety
What else can teachers do to help?
- 1. Put students in small groups and lead them into an activity that requires interaction.
2. Give shy children plenty of time to ask questions or speak to the class. Don't rush to speak for them.
3. Show empathy, warmth, and understanding. Play with the children, comment on their ideas in a caring and positive way, and show interest in them.
4. Share emotions that you have had that are similar to the child's. Identifiying and talking about the emotions may help the child control them.
5. Reward outgoing behavior.
6. Read books to the class about children that overcame shyness.
